BCHF GOLF TOURNAMENT 2010

The 2010 Tournament supported by the BCHA, BCRFA and ABLE will be held on July 19 at Westwood Plateau.  This year's unique event will feature 2 golfing choices -  the Country Club Experience and the Academy Experience. Golfers in both events will enjoy a special day culminating in the awards dinner.  The Country Club event will offer 18 holes of best ball golf on Westwood's highly respected and scenic golf course.  The Academy event will feature 9 holes on the region's best  Executive course.

BCRFA - Vancouver Island - raising funds for the BCHF

On Tuesday, May 4 the BCRFA will be holding their Central Island Golf Tournament.

The event will be held at Cottonwood Golf Club in Nanaimo.  $15.00 per player will be directed to the BCHF.  So please spead the word and go and play golf and support the Foundation.

IVSA - January Product Salon

The Foundation was well represented at yesterday's new product salon at the Four Seasons, Vancouver.  Attendees donated $2 to the Foundation to have their coats checked.  For once we were happy it was wet outside!!
Thanks to the IVSA for working with the Foundation and letting us "spread the word" and raise over $300.
The Foundation would be happy to "work" any Hospitality industry functions like this wine tasting event where we could interface with the people who will  potentially benefit from the Foundation.

Bob's Birthday Bash

Bob Smith turned 90 on January 20, 2010.  On Sunday the 17th a pary was held in his honour at the Hamilton Street Grill.  105 guests were instructed not to bring gifts as this party was to be a fundraiser with 75% of the funds going to the BCHF.

BC Hospitality Foundation Awards Industry Scholarships

On November 24th, 2009, the BC Hospitality Foundation rewarded the hard work of young men andwomen in the hospitality industry for their commitment and drive in their programs. Over $20,000 in scholarships were awarded to students enrolled in various hospitality programs around the province.

The Muddy Waters Pub

The Foundation  presented a cheque for $5000 to the son of the late Wendy Collins, an employee of the Muddy Waters Pub in Nanaimo.  Wendy was a cancer patient who had worked at the Pub for 18 years.  Bing Smith and Christine Coletta, Foundation board members, attended a fundraising at the event at the Pub. The Foundation offered to match the funds raised at the event up to $5000. 

Chilean Wine Festival

The Chilean Wine Festival held at the Sutton Place Hotel and a number of participating Vancouver Restaurants raised funds for the Foundation. Students from Vancouver Community College were on hand to help as volunteers.
The event comprised of a Trade tasting followed by a Consumer tasting.  After the tastings diners were transported to a participating restaurant and enjoyed a fine meal paired with Chilean wines.
